France

Bonjour Paris!

When I eventually arrived into Paris it was about 11:00 at night. Having to learn the extremely confusing metro  system in Paris at this hour was not the funnest thing I ever had to do. The metro system has about twice as many lines as central London does, way more frequent stops, and the cars are uncomfortable and pretty dirty. They reminded me more of the ones in New York, but I guess because I was coming from London a few days before I may have been a little biased. Luckily, the train station was only a couple of metro stops from my hostel so it didn’t take me very long to get there, but it was in kind of a dodgy neighborhood.

When I was checking into my hostel, which was actually very nice since it was basically brand new, I asked to hire a towel. They said I could buy one for 4 euros, which is kind of expensive, but I needed one and paid the money. To my surprise, what they gave me was this thing only slightly bigger than a hand towel. I looked at it thinking ‘what am I going to do with this?!?’ Apparently that’s how towels are in Paris. A couple of days later I managed to get a normal size towel through a mix-up with one of the cleaning ladies. After all this, I went to sleep for the night.
