Canyoning in Switzerland: Like White Water Rafting Without the Raft

What’s better than hang gliding through the Swiss Alps?? Well nothing, but canyoning in Switzerland down some crazy rapids is definitely a close second. I think it gets your adrenaline going more than hang gliding, which is more relaxed. In a nutshell, canyoning is like white water rafting with the raft. It’s a combination of riding the rapids, jumping over waterfalls, and rappelling down cliffs. It’s tough to explain, so I’ll just show you pictures instead. Here’s how we began.

Traversing through the freezing cold river. Good thing we had wetsuits on.

Jumping down another waterfall…

This is where I accidentally slammed into the side of the cliff trying to swing around it. It didn’t feel all that great.

And somehow we all made it to the end.
