In the capital of Portugal, as in a lot of other big cities, there’s a distinct difference in the personality of the city after the sun goes down. Whether it’s seeing all the architecture lit up or catching a brief glimpse of the trams whizzing through the streets, Lisbon is great to explore after dark.
What cities do you think have a different personality after dark?

You’re right, Lisbon is at it’s best after dark! It rained a lot when we were there which gave the streets an even more magical glow. Great pics, and sharp! Were you using a tripod?
Thanks! No, no tripod. I didn’t even use a flash for any of these. I picked up a Sony NEX right before I left and low light pics are incredible with it!
i think Lisbon is beauty by default but this pics are so beautiful
thanks for your hard work
I appreciate it. I loved Lisbon and can’t wait to go back sometime!
I love this beautiful city where I was born. Your pictures are amazing! Thanks for sharing them with the world!
Thanks Teresa! I can’t wait to explore more of Portugal.
Hi Nick! Love your photos. I was wondering if I would ask your permission to use a couple of your night shots of the Lisbon street with the trolley as subjects for oil paintings. BTW, I have an NEX 6 and love how nice it is in low light as well. Which lens do you use? Thank you,
Lisa
Hi Lisa. Yes, you can use the photos as subjects for oil paintings. I’m glad that I can inspire creativity like that. At the time, I was using an NEX-5N with the 18-55mm kit lens. However, that camera recently had a too close encounter with a waterfall so I’m in the market for something new.
