During my recent trip to Ireland, one of the highlights of the trip was having the opportunity to sail on an old Galway hooker. These single-masted boats were traditionally used for fishing in Galway Bay. The water was a bit choppy the afternoon we went out, so it made for a bit of a wild ride!
Sitting near the front of the boat had its perks. A few times I got to assist the captain in changing the direction of the sails. Since the conditions were a bit rough, this happened quite often.

I had a great time sailing on Galway Bay. I definitely think this peaked my interest in sailing and it might be something I explore further in the future.
