It’s official…Nick’s Travel Bug has been around for 5 years now!
The funny thing is, I didn’t even realize it until late last week when I saw another blog anniversary post on the interwebs.
My first ever post was on 02/16/2009 as I was preparing to leave on my big 5-month Europe trip after college. I started this blog so my friends and family could keep up with what I was doing, but never dreamed it would have grown so much from there. Almost 250 posts later, here we are.
It’s been a wild ride full of a lot of crazy adventures and lots of things checked off of my bucket list. 5 years ago I couldn’t have imagined the amazing people I’d meet through running this blog. From other bloggers and travel writers to meeting up with some of my readers on the road, a lot of these people I may not have ever met otherwise. Since I began writing here, travel has become a lifestyle for me. Although a lot of you might laugh, I still don’t travel as much as I’d like to.
I want to thank everyone who’s ever read this blog because that’s why I do this. I love inspiring people to go out and travel as well as showing that creating your own adventures and living vicariously through yourself doesn’t have to be expensive.
Here are a few highlights from the past 5 years:
Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin, Ireland
Hang gliding in the Swiss Alps
The 2012 Summer Olympics in London
Adventures in the forbidden land
Breaking a Guinness World Record
Exploring the Wild West of Ireland
Make sure to stay tuned because I have a lot of exciting things in the works that you’ll be seeing really soon.
Cheers to an adventurous past 5 years and to an even better 5 coming up!
Thanks everyone!
Nick
